I just started strength-training 3 ½ months ago and am enjoying it very much. However, what exactly are the health benefits I am getting by pushing the iron? I’m 57 years old. (Thomas, Oceanside)

  • Increased metabolism
  • Reduced resting heart-rate
  • Decreased risk for Type 2 Diabetes
  • Decreased risk for osteoporosis (increased bone mineral content)
  • Improved posture
  • Better self-image
  • Physical independence
