Frank Mikulka's Weekly Fitness Tip - 10/12/2004

For the past couple of months I’ve been working out- mostly cardio and spin classes. Now I want to start firming up and have been watching the “Pump It Up” classes at my gym. Will this class give me what I need?

This is a good question and because I do a boot camp/ pump class myself, I can give you personal input. This type of class provides an excellent way to combine your weight training with interval bouts of cardio. Also, included are body weight exercises, like push-ups and dips, etc. as well as flexibility training.

You get a total combo to satisfy a hard, clean workout of the body. You can use different weights to increase progressively, barbell weights according to your strength and discretion. Usually this type of class concludes with an abdominal and floor workout. In other words a good hard hour during which you can step to the next level!
